Our favorite comedy, Abbott Elementary, will premiere on February 7 on ABC for a supersized one-hour premiere of Abbott Elementary. With the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Quinta Brunson’s hit series captured the hearts of teachers and sitcom fans nationwide as a realistic depiction of what it is like to be a teacher in America.
In this sitcom set in a Philadelphia public school, a team of dedicated and passionate educators and an oblivious principal come together to defy the challenging circumstances. Despite being outnumbered and underfunded, their unwavering commitment is focused on ensuring the success of their students. Even though these exceptional public servants love their work, they grapple with the less-than-stellar attitude of the school district towards education.
“Abbott Elementary” features Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, and Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard. Quinta Brunson is the writer and executive producer, collaborating with Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker of Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions. Produced by Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television, a division of Disney Television Studios, the pilot episode is written by Quinta Brunson and directed by Randall Einhorn.
